Managed Home Screen’s Device Sharing

Using Android’s Dedicated Devices software and Microsoft’s Managed Home screen app, our team created the ability for first line workers (ex. factory workers or sales associates) to share company devices seamlessly. The Shared Device experience allows these workers to sign into their business account and access their Microsoft apps, all personalized for their profile.

User Problem

The previous implementation of Managed Home Screen allowed device specific policy controls but did not facilitate sign-in, nor easy app access using a worker’s profile.

Our clients needed a new experience for their employees to not only sign-in to their business profile, but quickly transition the device to a new employee afterwards.

This new experience needed to be simple, and secure.

Persona

Our main persona was first line workers; specifically those working as either a sales associate or a factory worker. When a first line worker starts their shift, they need to sign-in to a managed company device. These devices are often pre-loaded with curated apps that are part of their workflow. We wanted to make sure the sign-in/sign-out experience was easy, so the first line workers can start their tasks as soon as possible.

Accessibility Spec

In order for our app to work for everyone, I worked closely with our accessibility team to create a spec for our developers to follow.
